Chinese six-panel black lacquer folding screen with cloisonné enamel medallions

Grand six-panel black lacquer folding screen (approx. 180 x 270 cm) set with twelve genuine cloisonné enamel roundels on turquoise grounds — birds and peonies above, antiques-and-flowers still lifes below — within hand-gilt borders of bats, gourds and scrolling foliage. The reverse is black lacquer with small gilt medallions. Front faces are very well preserved; the rear shows lacquer wear and some white spotting, and there are minor scratches consistent with age. A decorative statement piece from the Beijing export workshops.
