Painted all over in the hundred-antiques taste 博古, with vases of peonies, prunus branches, bowls of peaches, butterflies and bats, this is a big and generous famille rose jar and cover. The bats earn their place because fu, the word for bat 蝠, is also the word for good fortune 福. Ruyi borders run top and bottom, it is Jingdezhen work at about 26 cm, and it is the sort of colourful, busy piece that carries a whole shelf by itself. Good condition: a few dark firing specks and some light wear at the lid rim, nothing chipped or cracked. Packed with care and posted from Portugal.
