Pair Chinese Blue & White Octagonal Porcelain Bowls, Auspicious Marks

A matched pair of eight-sided bowls in blue and white, each painted inside with the four-character wish bai zi qian sun 百子千孫, a hundred sons and a thousand grandsons, about as generous a blessing as the tradition offers. The wish sits in a flower cartouche with diaper and scroll bands around it, and both carry a square seal mark on the foot. There are only a couple of small brown firing spots on the foot rims, no chips and no cracks.
